If you've been following along on our Designer Spotlight series, you'll know there are few things we appreciate more than a great textile. Sindiso Khumalo is known as "a genius on the subject, with a Central Saint Martins master’s in the niche and single-handedly designing all of her fabrics through multimedia methods such as watercolor and collage."
But let's begin at the beginning. The brand's founder and namesake, Sindiso "studied architecture at the University of Cape Town prior to moving to London, where she went onto study a Masters in Design for Textile Futures. Sindiso Khumalo founded her eponymous label with a focus on creating modern sustainable textiles with a strong emphasis on African story telling."
We discovered Sindiso through CR Fashion Book and have been obsessed with her work ever since. A highly featured designer, her textiles has been featured in Vogue Italia, Vogue UK, Elle Magazine and Marie Claire Magazine as well as exhibited in a variety of museums.
Sindiso's use of color and pattern are virtually unmatched, and we can't even begin to pick a favorite look. But, among the ones we love are this sweet pink separates look, this large graphic summer style and this large-scale ocean-like print on a black maxi.
We'll be eagerly watching and awaiting each of Sindiso's new collections, and until then we highly recommend combing through her lookbooks for some of the prettiest and most fun textiles you've ever seen!
